Political Attitudes over the Lifecycle
Evolution and Mechanisms of Attitude Change Throughout Adulthood
Political differences between age groups can reflect generational experiences and shared historical events. My PhD asks how psychological development within individuals can also help explain attitude change throughout adulthood.
I examine potential mechanisms including personality development, life satisfaction, cognitive flexibility, information processing, motivation, and goal orientation.
Methods
Quantitative research into political attitudes and their development.
Longitudinal data & experiments
The project proposes combining longitudinal surveys and panel-data analysis to trace attitude trajectories with experiments to investigate the mechanisms behind change.
